Meth Impact Panel
Drug Free San Juan County sponsors a Methamphetamine Victim Impact Panel. Addiction to
Methamphetamine can be overcome. That is the message the Meth Victim Impact Panel gives to those who
come and listen. It is the newest program sponsored by Drug Free San Juan County. The Panel
has received much positive input from those who have attended. Mark Livingston, the Meth VIP
coordinator, will arrange an appointment with those court-ordered or those are interested in learning how to
break their addiction to drugs. He can be reached by calling 716-1955.
Location: Magistrate Court, 950 W. Apache, Farmington, NM 87401
(Judge
King’s courtroom)
Clients must write the name of who
sent them to the panel on the sign-in sheet. If they do not, the
sender will not receive a report of their compliance. There is a
$25.00 fee. Only cash or a money order will be
accepted. Anyone coming to the panel under the influence will
NOT be allowed to attend the panel.
This is a Methamphetamine
awareness panel that will be discussing the impact Meth has on unintentional victims: identifying and
recognizing destructive behaviors: constructing some counter strategies for these destructive behaviors and
accessing self-help tools and organizations. Mark Livingston, the
panel coordinator, is a Methamphetamine victim and will discuss his experiences and recovery. All are invited to come and learn how to gain a victory over our
Methamphetamine problems.
Mark has overcome his addiction to Meth
and tells his story as part of the Panel’s program. He is committed to helping others overcome their
addiction because he knows the losses he suffered from his addiction. He also knows the effort and time
required to complete the requirements the legal system put upon him. He says it is do able and worth
it. His rehabilitation helped him to see that his family and drug counselors really were on his side and
wanted him to be clean of drug use. While he was abusing drugs he felt his family and counselors were out to
get him. He is passionate in his desire to help others overcome addiction.
The sessions finish with a question and answer sessions for all
attendees. They are given printed information about where to go for additional help. An evaluation form
is given to those who attend the session. This information is used to understand the effectiveness of the
session and is used to improve the sessions.
You may have a story to tell and could be a
presenter. You may need to learn more about drug addiction. You may want to support those who are
required to attend. You may want to support this good effort. Whatever the reason, you may come to the
Meth Victim Impact Panel.
